Port Arthur 230 kV Transmission Line Project (Jefferson County)
Southeast Texas' population and economic opportunities are growing
year by year, fueled by dependable, affordable electrical power. For
many years, Jefferson County has been home to important industrial
facilities as well as rural and agricultural communities. The need for
reliable power to foster growth is just as important to Entergy Texas,
Inc. as it is to the business, industrial and residential customers we
Entergy Texas' transmission engineers and planners look ahead to
ensure that our transmission system will continue to reliably serve our
customers, both now and into the future. The Port Arthur Reliability
Transmission Project will enable us to meet an important need in
Southeast Texas by adding two new substations and a new transmission
line by mid-2020.
The three-part project consists of the following:
1. Entergy Texas will construct a new power substation, the Garden
Substation, southwest of Central Gardens, Texas. This substation will
connect to two existing 230 kV transmission lines in the area.
Entergy Texas will construct a new power substation, the Legend
Substation, southeast of Port Acres, Texas. This substation will connect
to one existing 230 kV transmission line in the area.
Texas will construct a new 230 kV transmission line from the Garden
Substation to the Legend Substation.
There are a number of routes that the new
transmission line could take between the two substations. Potential
routes, along with the various segments that they would be comprised of,
are provided in the maps below.
All routes and route segments included in this notice are
available for selection and approval by the Public Utility Commission of
At Entergy Texas, we have a simple set of values: Focus on our
