Entergy Texas is committed to ensuring a safe, reliable, affordable and sustainable supply of power for our customers. Part of that commitment requires working today to plan for our region’s infrastructure needs to ensure we are able to meet future growth. Providing reliable and affordable electricity is central to the future success of the communities we serve, and we are committed to working with our customers to power the future.

We are proposing to build a new 138-kilovolt transmission line in Liberty County and San Jacinto County. If approved, the project will prevent contingent low-voltage and thermal overloads as well as benefit load-serving capability driven by commercial and residential growth in the area. We are currently in the planning phase for the project and would like to gather input about potential routing segments for the new transmission line.

The proposed 6- to 10-mile transmission line would follow a yet to be selected corridor from the existing Southline Substation, located approximately 2 miles northwest of the intersection of United States Highway (US) 59 and State Highway 105, in Liberty County to the existing Jacinto Substation, located approximately 2 miles north-northeast of the intersection of US 59 and Farm-to-Market Road 2025, in Liberty County.

The new transmission line will be a single-circuit 138 kV transmission line composed of either concrete or primarily steel pole structures that will range in height from 80 to 130 feet high; the span lengths vary from 500 to 800 feet.

If approved, the project will support and enable economic growth as well as load growth in Southeast Texas. The new line will provide greater reliability to the Southeast Texas region by adding a new transmission source into the growing area.

Entergy Texas operates within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, which is a regional transmission organization that manages the flow of power across its footprint. MISO has identified this project as subject to federal reliability standards. The project will increase operational flexibility, help meet the growing power demands of Southeast Texas, and increase reliability and resiliency during extreme events, such as Winter Storm Uri.
